@stefano just checking. If we follow the category on Billboard are we supposed to see the posts in our feed? Specially referring to the post about BlackBSD. I thought is would appear in my feed as it was posted in that category.

The NetBSD project is pleased to announce the fourth (and this time hopefully final) release candidate of the upcoming 11.0 release, please help testing! See the release announcement for details. https://blog.netbsd.org/tnf/entry/netbsd_11_0_rc4_available https://www.netbsd.org/releases/formal-11/NetBSD-11.0.html ping: https://framapiaf.org/@jaypatelani@bsd.network/116570729312543808

I’d like to start here (as opposed to somewhere else?) by putting something on the record. Or the cassette tape, or whatever. Travan tape? LTO? https://www.rubenerd.au/a-hypothetical-netbsd-cyberdeck/

I've never participated in GSoC but have wanted to get involved with some NetBSD hacking. Is this open to all potential contributors or just students?

Congrats NetBSD! The first BSD I ever installed successfully... then quickly dropped it because I was lost and confused. But that's a reflection of where my skills were at many years ago... Since then NetBSD now has things like pkgsrc and bozohttpd. My time is fairly limited nowadays but it's still on my TODO to give NetBSD another serious go. It probably won't replace OpenBSD for me, but I love hacking on systems and NetBSD is the ultimate hacking OS. Looking forward to another year of NetBSD updates. Well done and thanks to all contributors! 🥳

Very helpful! I think I accidentally bricked my G4 cube while trying to install NetBSD/macppc several years ago because I wasn't careful while partitioning the hard disk.

We have a Kiwix server at home for offline reference, and with NetBSD on an old iMac it's blazingly fast compared to Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi Model B. The internet here is slow, and I think Kiwix rate limits direct downloads. I'd like to set up torrenting to make the download for Wikipedia take less than an estimated 3 days, and so that peers can do the same. Even scp-ing what I have from another node seems it will take a while, so I just have Wiktionary at the moment. I see a handful of CLI BitTorrent clients packaged for NetBSD: btget, dtorrent, btpd, rtorrent, transmission. I have experience only with transmission, though if there's a "better" stable, small package, I'd prefer learning a second option. I will look into these myself in the meantime, but I'm posting here if anyone has experience or opinions, I would love to hear them, and posting here to share a NetBSD project.
